MADONNA AND THREADS 07/14/2011
madonna in threads...art work...artist unknown a few weeks ago, i bought this piece for two bucks at the thrift store in east oakland....now who would pound all these nails in wood then meticulously wind each thread...its really quite a little piece of pop art...red velvet background ala italia style...i cleaned it up, rubbing dust and lint off the velvet with masking tape, i suppose this is my detailed ocd like behavior as creativelyy applied to art restoration... peeled old paper off the back...removed the shoe string and tack hanging....now that was tacky!....i put a proper wire on the back of it. lady madonna is playing on my laptop...its the morning hours, my favorite time to write... i want to write about my everyday musings and how that affects me as a artist... my world views and how they take form. music ...start a revolution...by the beatles....we all want to change the world...no inertia and complacency is fine with some people...little compliant ants...repetitive doing the same old thing and expecting different results... the beatles were really brilliant...forty years later i can still listen to them and enjoy their message. john lennon's sudden death blew me away in the 80's....living in the redwoods with my gf and dog hearing it on the news....crazy bastard mark chapman shot and killed john right in front of yoko at the dakota apt building in new york... his glasses cracked....yoko, another jackie kennedy having her husband slain right in front of her...omg i loved john lennon, his poetry, his revolution, his transformation...his battles, demons, his fame, his partying, his british accent.. yes johnnie, you are missed... meeting yoko at her art show.... beautiful photos of their relationship on the cover of rollingstone magazine shot by lesbian photographer annie leibovitz....haunting photo of yoko crying. john naked baring his soul next to yoko, his soul mate, mother, wife, muse.... yoko in her kimono...the white room thing....I'm still thinking about decades later....that is a haunting image that Annie, John, and Yoko left us!
